ANEKDOTEN – FIREFLY

sparks flying through the room
my head’s on fire
and there is nothing i can do
i’m in the whirlwind
far beyond reach
i wish that you would be here too

fading fire
the wakened eye
soon turning blue again

for all gone before
all left undone
put down your walking-stick and run
i’m on a blind-ride
all screens are blank
looking forward running back

and all is one
to each his own
all is one

but i am alone
as i run
through the fire

ANEKDOTEN – WHERE SOLITUDE REMAINS

I watch the clouds through my window,
sail across the sky
And underneath the canopy,
gulls, they wheel and glide
The shoreline stretches endlessly
along these windswept plains
I wander through this barren land
where solitude remains

I’ve made myself a universe
in this far-off home
Unseen from the outside world,
here I live and roam
And though I’ve tried assiduously
to heal the wounds with time
you’ll haunt me in my memories until I die

If I should meet you after all these years,
how could I find the words?
I’d greet Read more…

ANEKDOTEN – THE WAR IS OVER

a light shines above
a trace of the sky
reflecting in my lover’s eye

the sun going down
on a war, lost or won
all is silent in this newborn world of peace
we’re the only ones awake to see

it’s not a case of right and wrong
it’s all about to be
you and me
so come and bless my soul
it’s all about to be

a blue whippoorwill sings
on the other side of the rain
we’re through with the games
we survived the hate and the pain

ANEKDOTEN – THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA

The Old Man And The Sea
The storm has raged here for hours,
the water’s plunging in on me
The remains of my creation
is swallowed slowly down
by the troubled sea
into unconsecrated ground
gone eternally, gone eternally

Feeder of my visions,
carrier of my soul
The last hope for the dreamers,
now crashing to the shore,
pinioned and torn
In presumption and with my foolish pride
I challenged the storm, I challenged the storm

I’m the sole survivor,
the only one left alive
Now my limbs seem to fail me
and time Read more…

ANEKDOTEN – AS I TURN

sometimes it seems
like the void is larger than life
and i’ve none to give,
nothing to say
at the ending of the day

as i turn to go
man made prints in the snow
lines entwine
and in time it will show

dusk day fades in grey
i won’t let me slip away

ANEKDOTEN – THOUGHTS IN ABSENCE

Face my fears, my soul is absorbed into black
Dry my tears, fear and pain is what I lack
Broken, torn I live with my light-eye drowned
Ease and cakm you give,
but life begins and ends with pain
My time has come now, this bird has flown
A glimpse of hope,
but still an everlasting moment

Walk with me, for I shall go no futher now
Dance for me, my soul shall end its futile ride
Dressed in gold I rise with my face to Read more…

ANEKDOTEN – GROUNDBOUND

how long the wait?
clouds are hanging over me
obscurity prevails
wearing the face
of doubts, hopes and promises
i wish that you would stay

don’t blunt the edge
i breathe through my senses
the flesh and the divine
delicate moves
surrender into strangeness
and i can’t make out the signs

fall through the air
groundbound and giving away

your secret is safe
unless it would break in two
heaven’s still unbound
cling to my wings,
the dreams and the things we knew
now would you want it to?

fall through the air
groundbound and gliding
giving away Read more…

ANEKDOTEN – FROM WITHIN

sleep
golden city
behind bolts, bars and stone
dream
mighty city
of the wind and the sea
stars shoot a line across the sky

no way in
from the outside
no way out
from within
stars call me down from the sky

weep
sleepless city
in your room
deep within

ANEKDOTEN – THE GAMES WE PLAY

The Games We Play
i wonder how
we should fill the open space
after lunch time tea
in the rosary
and the evening picnic by the sea

tell me your name
i am game if you want to play
tell riddles in the hall
play hide and seek or ball
or if you’d like to sneak out through the wall

ANEKDOTEN – OUT OF ROPE

So here i am
once again
still i can’t help
but wonder why
i’m coming back
i fail to see
that what once was
has passed us by

the howling wolf
the sleepless lamb
am i to blame?
and what’s the crime?
i’m pulling in
i’m out of rope
out of line?
or out of hope??
